DUNYHA

DUNYHA is a transnational music project led by vocalist Ilka Kisgyörgy, reimagining traditional Transylvanian folk songs through an experimental lens. The ensemble’s distinctive sound blends collective free improvisation with elements of doom metal and dark ambient, creating a sonic world that honors folk roots while placing them in a bold, contemporary context. Central to the project is the idea of the “untouched ear”—musicians who approach folk material from outside the tradition. Free from stylistic expectations, they offer raw, intuitive interpretations that reconnect with these songs in unexpected and emotionally powerful ways. Each musical project will be represented by one of the members at the training, who in this case will be vocalist and band leader, Ilka Kisgyörgy.
